I offer a distinctive and holistic approach to therapy shaped by my background in medicine, mental health, research, education, and the non-profit sector. A lifelong learner, I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, an MD from Xavier University School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Birmingham. This diverse foundation allows me to take an integrative approach that considers the whole person—mind, body, and life circumstances. I understand the strong connection between physical and emotional well-being, and I support clients navigating chronic or acute health concerns, grief and loss, stress, burnout, and major life transitions. Grief can take many forms, including the loss of a loved one, changes in health, identity shifts, relationship endings, infertility, or transitions into new stages of life. My goal is to provide a warm, compassionate, and supportive space where you feel comfortable exploring these experiences at your own pace. I also believe humour can be an important part of healing, and when appropriate, I bring lightness into the therapeutic process to help foster connection and resilience. I have a particular passion for perinatal mental health and supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, and the evolving realities of parenthood. As a mother of two young children, I bring both professional knowledge and lived experience, offering grounded and empathetic support during a transformative and often demanding season of life. Hailing from the United Kingdom and having lived in four countries, I deeply value diversity and bring a culturally responsive, inclusive lens to therapy. I work collaboratively with clients from all backgrounds and strive to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and respected. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you gain insight, navigate challenges, and move toward meaningful change with clarity and confidence in a non-judgmental space. Join me for an in-person session in one of the comfortable armchairs or couches in our office, or virtually from the comfort of your home—where PJs are completely acceptable.

I counsel clients with trauma-related challenges including anxieties, depression, anger, and grief resulting from adverse childhood experiences, attachment issues, or any other negative life experiences including post-traumatic stress disorder. My expertise in somatic interventions will address any unsafe feelings that you have and help you attain inner core balance and emotional regulation. Your body may be storing memories of unresolved traumatic experiences that have become the narrator of your negative thoughts and behaviours. Processing early childhood experiences and emotions in the mind-body will help you build a deeper inner core awareness and self-compassion for making healthier choices in behaviours and relationships. My emphasis on humanistic and psychodynamic approaches, as well as cognitive reframing, has helped clients stuck in their negative thinking patterns to change their self-narratives and build better life goals with greater self-fulfilment and a capacity to live life more vibrantly and more self-directed with meaning. I offer one-on-one support, couples and family sessions, and group therapy. My areas of expertise and focus include teenagers as I support their anxiety issues, as well as being a support for parents. I have run many teenage group therapy sessions with great success in reducing struggles both at home and at school. Please reach out to me for a free consultation to discuss the issues and to see if I would be a good fit to get you the help you need to live a life of healthier choices, a life of vibrancy and vitality - a life that you deserve.

I’m Joshua Weiss, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. I work with adolescents and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, and questions around identity. My approach is collaborative, structured, and focused on helping you build lasting skills that you can apply in your day-to-day life. In our work together, we focus on identifying what is maintaining patterns like anxiety, self-criticism, or low motivation, and then developing practical, evidence-based strategies to shift them. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to support emotional regulation, increase confidence, and create a clearer sense of direction. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful, sustainable change.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working as a private tutor and basketball coach, where I saw firsthand how powerful encouragement, structure, and goal-setting can be. I bring that same supportive and collaborative energy into therapy, creating a space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change. I also provide culturally affirming counselling and work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

Outside of my work, I’m passionate about basketball, golf, cooking, and community involvement; all of which keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of growth, resilience, and connection.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you are used to handling things on your own. If this resonates with you, reaching out can be a helpful first step.
